DISCIPLESHIP
"Relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.”
2 Nephi 31:19 // The Book of Mormon
Take a moment and visualize the difference between these 2 individuals:
You relying wholly upon the power of you.
You relying wholly upon the power of Jesus Christ.
Individual #1 can do all things that are in their power.
Individual #2 “can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The question you have to answer is whose power do you have more trust in?
You or Jesus Christ?
LEADERSHIP
“You can do everything right, but without love it’s wrong.”
Jon Jorgenson
Paul taught:
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.1 Corinthians 13
In other words, you can do everything right, but without love it’s wrong.
More important to the Lord than what you do, is why and how you do it. The why and how give wind to your what. It’s what makes it move, inspire, and lift. The why and how are the power behind your what.
We’ve all been in hundreds of classes throughout elementary school, high school, and college. All of our instructors have had the same what. To teach. Yet, I'd bet only a few really impacted you. Why do you think that's the case?
The what is the act. The why and how is the power.
MENTAL PERFORMANCE
1) "Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you." - Steve Jobs
2) "There’s nothing inherently 'special' about the people who created ... things. They didn’t have to pass some test of Ultimate Truth to verify that they were the right person for the job. They simply chose to build something. You don’t need permission to create. You don’t need to be 'gifted' or a 'genius' or 'brilliant' to contribute to the world around you — you just need to choose to build something." - James Clear
You might be postponing plans. Waiting for someone to give you permission to start. Waiting for the imposter syndrome to magically go away. Waiting for someone to deem you as credible enough to do what you’ve been wanting to do.
Stop waiting.
Consider this your permission.
Just start.
